ANACHRONISTIC AWARDS 2009

 

The highly coveted Anachronistic Award is given each year in the First Sunday of Advent for the "untimely discovery" of Christmas things before the Season of Christmas actually begins, which in the Church Calendar is on ... Christmas.

 

This year's winners:

 

Gretchen T. in recognition of receiving a Christmas Gift on August 7th from the Apartment Maintenance Department, a Christmas Hot-Pad depicing a Cat in Christmas Attire!

Steve K. in recognition of establishing a new category ... Extreme Anachronism ... for discovering that Dillard's Department Store actually took down their Christmas Decorations ... two days before Christmas ... last year!

Randine H. in recognition of receiving a brochure from Hallmark already showing 2009 Christmas Ornaments, on January 26 ... eleven months in advance of Christmas.

And, An Unknown Contributor of Anachronisms, who left a clipping from the Albuquerque Journal of the comic strip RETAIL  on September 7, 2009, left on the White Plastic Chair outside the Church Office: The Dialogue ensues: “It’s Labor Day, Marla!  You know what that means, don’t you?”  “Please don’t say it.”  “It’s CHRISTMASTIME!”  “Oh, it so isn’t!”
